Meet Doug & Jenn

We are Doug and Jennifer Bonoff of The Home Business People, Inc. We have two beautiful children, and together, we operate multiple successful home-based Internet businesses.

We choose a different life - a life where we work together each day, strive towards the same goals, share in the same excitement, and take advantage of the benefits that our home-based businesses provide.

We began with limited computer skills, no Internet business experience, and virtually no money to invest. Yet through hard work and determination, Jenn's first home-based Internet business earned six figures in the first year , and was on track to double that when she sold it to a private investor after only 18 months.

Together, we have published hundreds of articles and training courses about Internet marketing. Our services have helped thousands of individuals and businesses around the world. Jenn is the author of a soft-covered, 224 page book, "Zero To Six Figures." "Zero To Six Figures" tells her story of home-business success, and walks readers step-by-step through the process of starting their own businesses from home using the Internet.

We understand from personal experience the frustrations of trying to get your business up on the Internet. There is so much information out there, and so much to choose from. It can be a confusing and even expensive proposition.

Jenn:

"I was born and raised in West Warwick, Rhode Island. I attended West Warwick High School and graduated from Yale University where I majored in Political Science.As far back as I can remember, I had a feeling inside me that drove me to choose a different path. I didn't want my life to be ordinary, but rather exhilarating and fresh. I am an entrepreneur and I always wanted a business of my own. I had no idea what my future would hold after graduating from Yale. I didn't send out my resume and go to interviews like my classmates. My family thought I was crazy for not even looking for a job. I didn't put together a resume or write a cover letter. Imagine the shock - over $130,000 for an Ivy-League education, and I certainly didn't appear to be headed down the "right" path. But I had other plans. I wanted something of my own.

With no extraordinary computer skills or Internet marketing experience, I taught myself how to create basic websites and at the age of 24, I started my own Internet business from home. I was not rich when I started my business. I was just out of college with little more than a credit card and a dream.

      Why do I choose the home-business lifestyle?

For me, it is the need to be different. The need to achieve something more. From early in my life, I had the desire to be an entrepreneur. The only way I can describe this is to relate it to the desire to be a doctor. Some people just have that feeling inside of them that determines their life's work.

I truly want to work at something that is mine. I don't want to have a run-of-the-mill life, and am turned off by the "9-5" lifestyle. I find it to be trapping and monotonous, and also something that I can't control.

In addition, I love the excitement of my home-based business. I continuously experience new things, and revel in new possibilities.

My reasons have evolved over the past few years. Now I see the benefits of my business in terms of having a family. I do not need to worry about daycare, or balancing a career with the need to be at home with my family.

Seeing myself today as successful home-based Internet business guru gives me a tremendous feeling of accomplishment. I had worked in the entertainment industry for over 8 years when circumstances beyond my control forced me to go in another direction. At the time, I barely knew how to turn on a computer, and I had absolutely no Internet business experience.

All I had was the need to create something from scratch...something that was my own. I wanted to wake up in the morning feeling a sense of self-worth. Like everybody else, I wanted to know that I could take care of myself and provide a wonderful life with my family without relying on anyone else.

I felt strongly that an Internet business offered a tremendous opportunity. I knew in my heart that I could succeed, and all I needed to do was learn how. So, I taught myself everything. It was hard enough learning the "ins and outs" of getting a business up and running on the Internet, but I also had to learn how to use a computer. I got help where I could, but it was mostly trial and error. It is amazing what you can accomplish with hard work and determination.

       Why do I choose the home-business lifestyle?

Looking back, I feel like I accomplished a great deal in a short period of time. The opportunity to is still there, and I look forward to many years of doing what I really enjoy. Working from home with Jenn has provided us with an opportunity to live a different kind of lifestyle, and I cherish it every day.
